Case Description
I need to have a bottom wisdom tooth extracted. I have been told that it is a partial bony one and that it is up against a nerve pocket which may leave me with numbness. I want to know how bad of a procedure this is and what I can expect afterwards, the recovery time. Also, is this something a general dentist can do, or do I have to go to an oral surgeon?

Based on the information given, your best bet is to go to an Oral Surgeon to discuss the risks and benefits of this procedure. For lower wisdom teeth, you have described a very common POTENTIAL problem.
