Case Summary
Crown Dental Implants
Teeth: 10
Last Full Mouth X-Ray: 1.5 yr ago
Last Cleaning: 1 yr ago
Case Description
Less than 2 yrs ago, I had a crown put on tooth 10. Recently here, the crown came off and the doctor tried to put the crown back on. In doing so, he found out that the root cracked. Now, I'm having to extract the tooth and perhaps do implant. I need to know if the insurance (delta dental) would cover for the 2nd crown since it's less than 2 yrs. Also, suggestion for a good oral surgeon or Periodontal doctor.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

The problem you describe is frustrating especially since you just had the crown completed, but it is not uncommon. The code for the implant crown is different than that of a traditional crown so you might have some insurance reimbursement despite the recent placement.

In most instances we will remove the cracked tooth and place the implant the same day also in most cases we will place a temporary crown on the implant at the same time. This area is a critical cosmetic area and you should in insist if possible to have the extraction and implant placement at the same time. If not the gum and bone will shrink and there will be a noticeable difference in the height of the gum in that area.

Our office places several dental implants everyday and would be happy to do a no charge consultation. We can do all the treatment in one office at the highest quality. We are also providers for delta dental and can give you an estimate of costs at he time of consultation.

When scheduling please let the business staff know that we have discussed this via email.

Good Morning....

If your broken tooth was the result of an accident, insurance may pay, but you should have a pre-determination done before you proceed. Dr. Calender recommends Dr. Brent Gabriel for your implant. His number is 817-416-1992. He is located in Grapevine. Please call our office if we can be of service to you.We would be happy to see you for a no charge consultation, and file the pre-determination for you.

Sincerely,
